Opera Zuid has been nominated for the VSCD Classical Music Prize De Ovatie 2023 with Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers<\/em>. De Ovatie is awarded to musicians who have delivered an exceptional stage performance and thus made a significant contribution to Dutch classical music life.<\/p>\n\n

The jury report states:<\/p>\n\n

“In the production Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers<\/em>, Opera Zuid was colourful, witty, playful, funny and sometimes deliciously grotesque, without exaggerating. […] Opera Zuid has produced something that the south of the country can really be proud of. It is an optimistic, comical, homely cosy way of making opera that you don’t see in the rest of the country.”<\/p>\n\n
