How can art and culture contribute to the conversation about climate change?
And what role does imagination play in shaping a sustainable future?
Inspired by Opera Zuid’s Uprising, artists, soloists and participants will come together to discuss the impact of the climate crisis on our society and the ways in which art can create space for reflection, awareness and change.
Uprising raises thought-provoking questions about resistance, responsibility and the future of our planet. During this panel discussion, we will explore the connections between the themes of the production and the climate issues we face today. We will consider the tension between hope and urgency, individual choices and systemic change, and the question of how artists and cultural practitioners can create new narratives that not only move us, but also inspire us to take action.
An evening of insights and inspiration for anyone who cares about the future of our world. An inspiring conversation about the challenges of our time and the possibilities for coming together and taking action.
Importantly, the discussion will not only address the climate of our planet, but also the social climate in which we live. How can we continue to engage in dialogue when positions become increasingly entrenched? How can we create space for listening, nuance and encounter? And what role can art and culture play in this? How can artistic narratives relate to and contribute to the wider social conversation?
