Documentary Alles voor de BOM!

What: Documentary Alles voor de BOM! When: Thursday 29 October
Time: 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm
Where: L1, Limburg Doc

For a year, Bas de Wal, Tim Guiking and Guy Houben followed Buurt Opera Malpertuis (BOM). They documented the process and the personal stories behind it during rehearsals, meetings and performances, as well as in people’s homes. The result is a compelling documentary about the power of meeting, collaboration and connection.

Those directly involved were given an early screening of the documentary on 18 September at the Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof. Now, the documentary is available for everyone to watch: Everything for the BOM! will be broadcast on L1, as part of Limburg Doc, on Thursday 29 October at 6.00 pm and 9.00 pm.

What is BOM?
Together with local residents, Opera Zuid is creating a community opera based on the lives and stories of people from Maastricht. A director, vocal coach, musical director and children’s rehearsal leader bring these personal stories together to create music theatre that puts the neighbourhood itself centre stage.

BOM brings people together: local residents, Opera Zuid and the wider community, as well as opera singers and young musicians from Conservatorium Maastricht. Director Tamara Jongerden describes it as ‘a participatory, socially engaged and artistic music theatre project, working with opera for, by, with and about the residents of the neighbourhood itself.’
