In the Opera Zuid series about heroic and passionate women, Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ of course should not be missed. The company called in the widely acclaimed theatre duo Leopold Witte and Geert Lageveen – who earned their spurs at Orkater, among others – to direct the lyrical drama in four acts. Freedom and happiness. Female power in flower power. Everyone longs for the ultimate uninhibitedness. But where does that lead?
