In memoriam John Bröcheler

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of baritone John Bröcheler.

John Bröcheler was one of the great Dutch opera singers of his generation. With his distinctive voice, commanding stage presence and great musicality, he performed many roles on national and international stages throughout his long career.

John was also connected to Opera Zuid. With his wealth of experience and his great love of the profession, he made a valuable contribution to our opera history. We remember him as a passionate artist for whom music, text and theatre were inseparably intertwined.

With his passing, the Dutch opera world has lost a singer and theatrical personality of great significance. We are grateful for all that he contributed and for the moments when his artistry came to life at Opera Zuid.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues and all those who held him dear.
