A Quiet Place (2018)

9 November ’18 > 9 December ’18

Info

In addition to world-famous music theater works such as West Side Story, On the Town and Candide, A Quiet Place is Bernstein’s only full-length opera. It is also his last work for the stage. During the Bernstein Centennial year 2018, Opera Zuid is the only European Opera House to perform the beautiful and heartbreaking opera A Quiet Place in the final version in three acts.

Conceived as a sequel to his 1951 short satirical comedy Trouble in Tahiti, A Quiet Place tells the story of a contemporary suburban American family struggling with communication, acceptance and coping with intense emotions after the tragic death of a loved one in an alcohol-induced car accident.

This opera is performed in English with Dutch surtitles
