Hänsel und Gretel (1997)

22 February ’97 > 20 February ’97

Info

Hänsel and Gretel, tormented by hunger and poverty, are sent out of their home by their mother. They wander around, but are shocked to suddenly find that they no longer know their way home. As darkness begins to set in, the Sandman appears. He lulls the children to sleep, and while they sleep they are protected by fourteen angels. When they are woken up by the Dew Man the next morning, they see a cake and – hungry as they are – they immediately start eating. The witch to whom the cake belongs discovers the two children and locks Hänsel in a cage to be fattened up. Gretel has to help her bake cookies. But when the witch isn’t paying attention, Gretel pushes her into the oven and frees her brother. They are reunited with their happy parents.
