On a warm summer afternoon, a ranger is taking a nap in the woods when a frog lands on his nose. He startles and sees a beautiful young fox. He grabs it and takes the struggling animal home. After the fox has lived in captivity for some time with the ranger and his grumpy wife, it escapes to the woods. There it meets a male fox, and it is love at first sight. A wedding follows, and the family expansion won’t take long.
One day the fox is shot by a poacher after stealing a chicken from its basket. Some time later, the ranger is taking a nap in the forest and sees in his dream a young fox, the spitting image of his own fox. He’s just about to grab it when he wakes up. In his hand he holds a startled frog, the grandson of the frog that woke the ranger in the very first scene.
