Info

The courtesan Violetta Valéry falls in love with Alfredo Germont. She decides to give up her immoral life in fashionable Paris and settles with him in the countryside.

Alfredo’s father Giorgio asks Violetta to break off the scandalous relationship with his son, otherwise the upcoming wedding of Alfredo’s sister will be jeopardized. Violetta, who knows she is suffering from consumption, fears that this separation will kill her. Nevertheless, she grants Giorgio’s wish and returns to her former protector, Baron Douphol.

During a party, the desperate Alfredo insults Violetta in public. The Baron challenges him to a duel. Finally, Giorgio Germont informs his son about Violetta’s sacrifice. Alfredo then rushes to her sickbed. Just before Violetta dies, the two lovers are briefly reunited.
