L’Amour des 3 Oranges (1995)

4 November ’95 > 25 November ’95

Info

As a result of the power struggle between the evil witch Fata Morgana and the good wizard Celio, the son of the King of Clubs is prey to deadly sadness. The doctors are powerless. Only if the prince is made to laugh can he heal. But no matter what silly tricks the court jester Truffaldino does, the prince remains inconsolable. Until Fata Morgana unexpectedly falls and the prince starts laughing uncontrollably. The enraged witch curses the prince to a burning passion for three oranges. He immediately goes out to look for the fruits. When he finds them after long wanderings, they each turn into beautiful princesses. The first two die of thirst, the third is saved by helpful spectators. A lyrical love duet follows, but the revenge-seeking witch turns the princess into a big rat. Through the intervention of the sorcerer Celio, this spell is reversed and the prince and princess live happily ever after.
